One of the things I’ve been looking forward to doing over this Christmas/New Year break is catching up on housework. Which is something not many people would look forward to, but there you go. Leading up to the end of the year, we just ran out of oomph, time and inclination, which is why we ended up doing some cleaning on Christmas Day ready for Hanno’s stay.
The first day I had at home on my own was yesterday, where I was a grumpy bum and nursed a sore throat. Today I’m home alone again and have done two loads of washing, cleaned the fridge, cleaned the pantry, done most of the ironing (Hubs had 16 shirts in the Matterhorn pile, so I ain’t doing all of them!) and have generally pottered around the house. I find tidying and cleaning therapeutic. As we rev up to bid farewell to 2010 and usher in 2011, I like to clear my head before the end of each year so I can re-group and sort out where I want to go, what I want to do and what I want to achieve over the coming 12 months.
So as I go about cleaning, purging belongings that no longer fit, work or need, and trying to find my path into 2011, I rely on putting the house into order to help put my head in order.
